The holiday season is the perfect time to fundraise with simple Christian Christmas crafts. I know it is a busy time of year, but church members love supporting the children and youth ministries, especially when they can purchase handmade gifts for the holidays. With a bit of planning and a work session day, you can raise funds for your ministries or meet community needs. All of these projects have minimal material costs and are easy to craft. Bonus, they are fun to create with your small group or women's ministry!

Tip: I ordered a rubber stamp that said, "Handmade by Providence Youth," and we stamped the back of the crafts.

  1. Decoupage Ornaments

Last year, my Youth Group and I made and sold ornaments, and they were wildly successful. We made a variety of decoupage ornaments. We made ones for teachers' gifts, colleges, and sports teams. We sold some with Bible verses, hymns, and nativity scenes. The Nativity Set sold out multiple times. We set up at a local craft fair and sold a ton.

Nativity-themed wooden ornaments in a box depict Mary, baby in a manger, angel, shepherd, and lamb, set on shredded paper.

Decoupaging is easy. Print the circle template (freebie include), cut out the circles, apply a thin layer of Modge Podge to the wooden ornament with a foam brush, and paste the cut-out circle to it. Let it dry for an hour and then apply a layer or two of Modge Podge on top of the image with a foam brush. Let dry completely. Poke the hole through the paper and Modge Podge with a pin, add string, ribbon, and wooden beads as desired.

Tip: I created some ornaments with a picture of our church, and these sold well. The local ones of the Mobile Bay were a hit, too. You could find photos of local landmarks to use.

Wooden teacher ornaments with black text: "Teach Love Inspire," "You Are Loved," "Teacher," "BEST TEACHER EVER." Patterns include polka dots and plaid.

I've provided a free template with some of the designs we used. Purchase the wooden ornaments on Amazon for the best price. They sell them at Hobby Lobby and Michaels, too.

  1. Hand-crafted Ornaments

Several of my teens, incredible artists, hand-painted nativities, crosses, and angels on the same wooden discs we used for the decoupage ornaments. We added ribbons and wooden beads. The church members quickly scooped these up.

Tip: We packaged the ornaments nicely with a card I made on Canva, a plastic treat bag, and ribbon.
Decorative ornaments with various patterns and text like "teacher," "love," and "best teacher ever." Colors include green, red, yellow.

We made crosses out of nails and copper wire, and they turned out beautiful. These are great for Easter, too.

  1. Christmas Cards

This year, we are selling custom greeting cards dressed up with ribbon, bows, and gems. The cards and envelopes are available in bulk on Amazon and cost less than twenty-five cents each. Even with the cost of ribbon and printer ink, these cards are an economical project with a significant profit margin. You can also use these cards to send to residents in nursing homes.

  1. Christian Bookmarks

Bookmarks are another fun way to raise funds for your ministry or to give to classmates and teachers. I love giving devotionals and bookmarks to my children's teachers. The children's bookmarks are meant to be colored, and they are super cute, packaged with a coloring book and crayons. These are also an excellent option for stuffing into busy bags for children to color during church service.

  1. Classroom Treat Cards

I know a bunch of busy moms and dads who love to order ready-to-go classroom treats. My children exchange stocking stuffers with their classmates, and I love adding a Bible verse to their treats. You never know when a flyer or treat card will be the first time a child hears about Jesus.
